A Few Pictures To Tide You Over

Not sure why I'm so behind but...I just am. Here's my boy and I taking a spin in the canoe in Arkansas last weekend...good fun!
The boy again with the King (aka...Papa Alan)
The boy and I did a little camping this weekend in Papa Alan's backyard...there was some swinging. (that's pizza on his face)
There was some more swinging with cousin Spencer. Uncle Jeff did the pushing.
You can't camp without a bonfire.

There was also a katy trail trip with Donna...you can read about that on the Ronneblog...the link is on the side.
I've also added to my 100.

101 Things

So here is a little undertaking some of my gal pals cooked up.

I am to pick 101 things that I will accomplish in the next 1001 days. My 1001 days began on September 1. They have to be simple things...things that can be started and finished in a day or two.

I'm good except 23 might require some travel and 19, 29 and 30 will need some preparation.

Mine will be posted on my side bar...I only have 35 but I'll be adding. I'll let you know as I check them off.

  1. Have lunch with Andrew at school.
  2. Write an actual letter to both of my Grandmothers.
  3. Plant trees in my backyard.
  4. Serve lunch at a shelter.
  5. Do a flip turn in the pool.
  6. Go to the zoo.
  7. Pick a light out for the kitchen.
  8. Build a compost container.
  9. Make a rain barrel.
  10. Learn how to use a chainsaw.
  11. Ride a tandem bicycle.
  12. Water ski.
  13. Go to Splash Cove with Andrew.
  14. Organize the pictures on my computer...and back them up.
  15. Wax my car.
  16. Go to a drive in movie.
  17. Take a walk in the pouring rain.
  18. Learn to play a song on the piano.
  19. Do another triathlon.
  20. Ride another century.
  21. Ride the entire Katy Trail again.
  22. Catch a big fish with my Dad.
  23. See Van Morrison live.
  24. Pay my last payment on my last credit card.
  25. Take a photography class.
  26. Go 48 hours without my cell phone. (not while on vacation)
  27. Go 48 hours without my laptop. (same)
  28. Go a week without the TV.
  29. Race my single.
  30. Run 3 miles without walking.
  31. Take my dogs to the dog park.
  32. Attend a holiday service at church.
  33. Bake a decent loaf of bread....from scratch.
  34. Sew something.
  35. Finish another Holiday Challenge

There's A Little Bike Race

Riders come from all over the world to ride the Tour Of Missouri. This the second year. It's pretty spectacular.
We got some cool cow bells to ring when the guys come by.
There are great colors and shapes.
The British rider Robbie McEwen won the KC stage. He's a favorite of mine from the Tour De France. HE rides for an American team sponsored by Columbia sportswear.
So...until next year!

Happy Birthday, My Love

14 years ago you were born.
Your Mom wasn't so interested in being a mom so you ended up with me.
Really just by accident.
I wasn't looking for a dog.
But you were supposed to come to me.
Some kind of crazy fate.
We had some rough spots, those first few years.
I wasn't sure we'd survive it.
You were wild.
I mean crazy, bounce off the walls, bug me until I screamed...wild.
Yeah...that kind.
But you were so smart.
And fun.
Oh, the hours and hours we played frisbee.
And you LOVED me.
...and I loved you
We grew a lot together.
You were, in so many ways, my very best friend.
Still are.
We're both older.
I wish dogs lived as long as people.
You don't see as well.
I'm chubbier.
You don't hear as well.
I have more wrinkles.
You're not as quick as you once were.
Me neither.
I wish for you as much more good time as God sees fit.
And long sunny afternoons on the porch.
Some good swims.
Belly rubs and extra treats.
A dog to bark at once in a while.
And that you always feel safe and loved.
Happy birthday.

Customer Service

Just a quick shout out to Hamilton Beach (my coffee maker) and Profile Designs (aerobars for my bike).

In the last two weeks both companies have helped me with a self inflicted issue with their product.

And sent me repair or replacement parts FOR FREE!

That's all.

The Big Empty

(see, now that it's over we can joke again)
Whew.
I've not heard from Gina but she's been in contact with my folks. Hopefully their house came through with minimal damage. Sounds like it was less of a problem than they prepared for.
Thanks for the prayers.
